What is Breathwork?

The feelings need to be expressed.

The thoughts need to be made conscious.

 

The Technique

This technique, while potent, is gentle in practice. It entails:

1. Expressing your emotions,
2. Bringing unconscious thoughts into conscious awareness, and
3. Letting go of judgments that no longer serve your mature self*

As a result, your body will gradually relax, and a renewed vitality will emerge as you view your thoughts and emotions from a fresh perspective, liberated from past emotional burdens.

*Remembering that a lot of your thoughts and habits come from when you were a tiny child.

 

The Experience

Breathwork is akin to Pranayama, (Wikipdedia definition) a facet of Yogic Breathing Science.

Illness or ‘Dis Ease’ can arise from a disconnect within one’s inner self or spiritual source, affecting all facets of a person’s being:

1. Mentally, through a division between conscious and unconscious thoughts.
2. Emotionally, by hindering the full expression and experience of emotions.
3. Physically, by manifesting as tension or discomfort.
4. Spiritually, as a separation from Oneself and others.

There are generally a few stages that you will go through during a Breathwork Session.

  1. Oxygenation of the body
  2. Emotional release of Physical Tension
  3. Meditative

In the initial stages of a Breathwork session, you might experience emotional release or physical tension. This arises from the body becoming energised and finally accepting long-suppressed emotions and thoughts.

It’s the refusal to accept or integrate certain thoughts and emotions that creates an emotional charge or tension, which embeds itself within the body’s cellular structure.

Throughout Breathwork breathing exercises, the body becomes enriched with oxygen, leading to improved blood circulation and the release of stored emotional and mental tensions as energy reaches areas where tension has been long held.

As you progress beyond the initial emotional release, sessions become more meditative. Ultimately, you attain a state of profound relaxation, heightened awareness, and increased energy.

The process of integration and connection with your inner self or source unfolds through progressively subtler layers of awareness, akin to peeling the layers of an onion.
